Initially Referred to House Judiciary & Civil Jurisprudence Committee, chaired by a Republican
HB 1181 amends eligibility criteria for retired and former judges assigned to temporary judicial service in Texas. It reduces the minimum service requirement for eligibility, prohibits assigned judges from hearing matters involving current or former clients, and mandates annual completion of educational requirements for active judges. It also includes provisions ensuring judicial integrity and competence for assignment.
