This bill would cost taxpayers $2,544,629.00 over five years, according to the Legislative Budget Bureau.
SB 128 establishes reporting requirements for hospitals regarding suspected child abuse, exploitation, or neglect. Hospitals must report monthly to the Department of Family and Protective Services, providing details on suspected cases and diagnostic codes used. Physicians involved must sign affidavits clarifying the basis of their diagnoses. Noncompliance may result in administrative penalties ranging from $10 to $1,000 per day, depending on the hospital's revenue.
