SB 401 allows non-enrolled students, such as those in private or home schools, to participate in University Interscholastic League (UIL) activities at public schools. It ensures equal access to UIL activities for these students under similar conditions as enrolled students, including residency requirements, academic standards, and fees. Schools can opt out of this requirement through a board vote. Academic proficiency must be demonstrated through standardized testing.
