Initially Referred to Senate Local Government Committee, chaired by a Republican
Last Referred to House Ways & Means Committee, chaired by a Republican
SB 402 streamlines the refund process for ad valorem tax overpayments or adjustments. Taxing units must send refunds to the mailing address on the appraisal roll unless a property owner requests a different address through a standardized form prescribed by the comptroller. The law includes safeguards against fraudulent requests and allows for revocations.
