Caption: Relating to arbitration provisions in surplus lines insurance contracts.
Initially Referred to Senate Business & Commerce Committee, chaired by a Republican
Last Referred to House Insurance Committee, chaired by a Republican
SB 455 requires that arbitration agreements in surplus lines insurance contracts specify that arbitration must occur in Texas, be governed by Texas laws, and interpret the contract in accordance with Texas laws. The provisions would apply to contracts delivered, issued, or renewed on or after January 1, 2026.
