Caption: Relating to the establishment of a theft of petroleum products task force.
Initially Referred to Senate Natural Resources Committee, chaired by a Republican
Last Referred to House Energy Resources Committee, chaired by a Republican
SB 494 requires the Railroad Commission of Texas to create a task force to study and make recommendations to prevent petroleum product theft. The task force will analyze legal frameworks, economic impacts, and enforcement strategies, coordinating with law enforcement and industry stakeholders. A biennial report with findings and recommendations will be submitted to state leadership until the task force expires on December 31, 2030.
