Caption: Relating to prohibiting an officer or employee of this state or of a political subdivision of this state from distributing certain voter registration application forms.
Initially Referred to Senate State Affairs Committee, chaired by a Republican
Last Referred to House Elections Committee, chaired by a Republican
SB 511 proposes to restrict officers or employees of the state or its political subdivisions from distributing voter registration application forms to individuals who have not requested them. It further prohibits the use of public funds to facilitate the distribution of these forms by others in such cases. However, the bill allows political parties and candidates for office to distribute these forms to unrequested recipients.
