Caption: Relating to a school district policy regarding custodian workloads.
Initially Referred to House Public Education Committee, chaired by a Republican
HB 1573 mandates that school districts establish and adopt policies regarding custodian workloads for district facilities. These policies must specify benchmarks for the square footage a custodian can maintain during an eight-hour shift, categorized separately for elementary, middle, and high schools as well as other district facilities. School districts are required to post these policies on their official websites. This legislation will take effect immediately if passed by a two-thirds majority in each legislative chamber; otherwise, it will take effect on September 1, 2025, and applies to the 2025-2026 school year.
