This bill would cost taxpayers $1,500,000.00 over five years, according to the Legislative Budget Bureau.
SB 719 directs the Health and Human Services Commission to conduct a study on the availability of beds in inpatient mental health facilities providing acute psychiatric treatment. The study will evaluate current bed capacity, patient demographics, long-term treatment needs, and future resource requirements, including workforce considerations. The findings and recommendations must be submitted to the legislature by September 1, 2026, with the Act set to expire on September 1, 2027.
