SB 739 amends the definition of "authorized peace officer" under the Code of Criminal Procedure to include additional roles for the purposes of laws governing the installation and use of tracking equipment and access to certain communications. Specifically, it encompasses law enforcement officers commissioned by the Parks and Wildlife Commission, investigators of prosecutor's offices, and officers from various state and municipal entities, including the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and the Texas Juvenile Justice Department. The bill ensures uniformity by resolving conflicts with other legislation enacted during the 89th Legislature.
