HB 1866 expands the state law enforcement authority of commissioned National Park Service law enforcement officers. It grants them powers of arrest, search, and seizure for state offenses committed within national parks or recreation areas, the ability to execute state-issued arrest and search warrants, and authority under certain provisions of the Texas Health and Safety Code related to mental health detentions.
