Caption: Relating to the jurisdiction of a court in a suit to divide certain property not divided or awarded on the dissolution of a marriage.
Initially Referred to House S/C on Family & Fiduciary Relationships Committee, chaired by a Democrat

HB 1916 amends the Family Code to specify that the court that rendered a final decree of divorce, annulment, or a related property division order retains exclusive jurisdiction over suits to divide property that was not addressed in the original decree. The bill applies to suits pending or filed on or after its effective date, September 1, 2025.
