Caption: Relating to the participation of an advanced practice registered nurse as a participating or preferred provider for health maintenance organizations and preferred provider benefit plans.

HB 1942 allows health maintenance organizations and insurers offering preferred provider plans to directly contract with advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) as participating or preferred providers. This provision ensures that APRNs can operate as providers independently of their supervising physicians' participation in the same network. The act clarifies that it does not grant supervisory authority to insurers over the practice of medicine
