HB 1965 mandates a study by the Texas Veterans Commission, in collaboration with the Health and Human Services Commission, to evaluate strategies for improving and expanding mental health services provided through the Military Veteran Peer Network. The study will include recommendations for increasing the number of certified peer service coordinators, with a particular focus on rural communities. The commission must submit a report with findings and legislative recommendations by December 1, 2026. The bill is set to expire on September 1, 2027.
