Caption: Relating to the eligibility of an organization to receive surplus agricultural products under certain grants awarded by the Department of Agriculture.

HB 2002 modifies eligibility requirements for nonprofit organizations to receive grants from the Texas Department of Agriculture for the collection and distribution of surplus agricultural products. The bill stipulates that recipient organizations must have a minimum of five years of experience coordinating a statewide food bank network and mandates that surplus agricultural products be made available to food banks operating in five or more counties.
