SB 857 proposes amendments to the Transportation Code to expand the conditions under which peace officers and license and weight inspectors may remove or require the removal of motor vehicles from highways. The bill broadens the scope of vehicle removal beyond unlawfully stopped vehicles to include those that are obstructing traffic, reported stolen, abandoned for more than 48 hours, or deemed a hazard by officers.
