Caption: Relating to a prohibition on conducting an ex parte renewal of a recipient's Medicaid eligibility.
Initially Referred to Senate Health & Human Services Committee, chaired by a Republican
Last Referred to House Human Services Committee, chaired by a Republican
SB 921 proposes a prohibition on the automatic renewal of Medicaid eligibility through ex parte processes, which involve the use of available electronic data sources without requiring direct information from recipients. The bill mandates that the Health and Human Services Commission, or any state agency administering Medicaid, cannot conduct such renewals unless explicitly required by federal law. It also directs the commission to seek any necessary federal waivers to implement the prohibition and allows a delay in enforcement until waivers are granted.
