This bill would cost taxpayers $903,890.00 over five years, according to the Legislative Budget Bureau.
HB 2243 creates the Texas Commission on Teacher Job Satisfaction and Retention. The commission will study and make recommendations to improve teacher working conditions, reduce administrative burdens, and examine the impact of state and federal laws on teacher job satisfaction. It consists of 13 appointed members, including legislators, school administrators, and trustees. The commission will produce a report by December 31, 2026, recommending legislative changes to enhance teacher retention and working conditions. The commission is set to expire on September 1, 2027.
