Caption: Relating to the authority of certain municipalities to receive certain tax revenue derived from a hotel and convention center project and to pledge certain tax revenue for the payment of obligations related to the project.
Initially Referred to House Ways & Means Committee, chaired by a Republican
This bill would cost taxpayers $1,848,000.00 over five years, according to the Legislative Budget Bureau.
HB 2289 expands the authority of certain municipalities to receive and pledge tax revenue from hotel and convention center projects. It modifies the Tax Code to extend eligibility for these financial arrangements to additional municipalities that meet specific population and geographic criteria. The bill enables these cities to use revenue from hotel occupancy taxes and sales taxes generated by a hotel and convention center project to finance obligations related to the development and operation of such projects.
