This bill would cost taxpayers $2,323,761.00 over five years, according to the Legislative Budget Bureau.
HB 2308 establishes the Texas Commission on Border Security and Illegal Immigration, an 11-member advisory commission tasked with studying the economic, legal, and social impacts of illegal immigration in Texas. The commission, composed of state leaders and legislators from both parties, will analyze state and federal immigration laws, evaluate migrant worker programs, and develop recommendations for border security infrastructure. It must produce an initial report within six months of its first meeting and submit annual reports to the governor and legislature with findings and recommendations?
