Caption: Relating to the text of ballot propositions that increase taxes.
Initially Referred to Senate Local Government Committee, chaired by a Republican
Last Referred to House Ways & Means Committee, chaired by a Republican
SB 1025 modifies ballot proposition requirements for tax increases. It mandates that any ballot proposition seeking voter approval for a tax increase must clearly state the amount or maximum rate of the proposed tax in mixed-case letters and include the statement "THIS IS A TAX INCREASE" in capital letters of the same font size as the rest of the proposition. This measure aims to improve voter transparency and awareness of tax-related ballot measures.
