"Creates a civil cause of action against school districts that do not comply with public information laws, repealing sovereign immunity for purposes of the statute."

HB 2330 creates a civil cause of action against governmental entities that violate Texas public information laws. It allows requestors of public records to sue for damages up to $200,000 per violation and recover attorney's fees. Additionally, the bill waives sovereign and governmental immunity to the extent necessary to enforce liability under this section.
