Caption: Relating to permit fees for groundwater wells imposed by the Southeast Texas Groundwater Conservation District.
Initially Referred to Senate Water, Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee, chaired by a Republican
Last Referred to House Natural Resources Committee, chaired by a Republican
SB 1055 increases the maximum fee that the Southeast Texas Groundwater Conservation District can charge for groundwater withdrawal permits. The fee cap is raised from one cent per thousand gallons of groundwater withdrawn to seven cents per thousand gallons. The bill is intended to provide additional funding for groundwater management and conservation efforts in the district.
