HB 2421 extends the dissolution deadline for the Save Historic Muny District from May 31, 2025, to May 31, 2027. The district was originally created to facilitate the preservation of the historic Lions Municipal Golf Course in Austin. Under the bill, the district may continue to exist beyond 2027 only if it has entered into an agreement with the landowner to purchase or preserve the land as a public golf course, parkland, or a combination of both. Additionally, the bill allows the district to enter into contracts with the City of Austin to receive revenue from municipal utility fees in exchange for providing public improvement projects or services.
