Caption: Relating to an exemption from ad valorem taxation of the residence homestead of the surviving spouse of a veteran who died as a result of a qualifying condition or disease.

HB 2508 establishes a full property tax exemption for the surviving spouse of a veteran who died as a result of a qualifying condition or disease presumed to be service-connected under federal law. The exemption applies to the surviving spouse's residence homestead and continues as long as they remain unmarried. If the spouse moves to a new home, they may transfer the exemption in an amount equal to the prior exemption.
