Caption: Relating to the establishment of the Rural Workforce Training Grant Program.
Initially Referred to House S/C on Workforce Committee, chaired by a Democrat
This bill would cost taxpayers $1,169,460.00 over five years, according to the Legislative Budget Bureau.
HB 2545 creates the Rural Workforce Training Grant Program under the Texas Workforce Commission to provide targeted funding for workforce training in counties with populations of less than 200,000. Grants will be awarded to public, private, or nonprofit entities, such as business associations, local workforce boards, and educational institutions, that provide job-specific training, apprenticeships, and workforce development programs. The funding can be used for training materials, instructor fees, participant support expenses, and administrative costs. The Workforce Commission must submit an annual report on the effectiveness of the program.
