Caption: Relating to the withdrawal of the State of Texas from the Interstate Mining Compact.
Initially Referred to Senate Natural Resources Committee, chaired by a Republican
Last Referred to House Energy Resources Committee, chaired by a Republican
SB 1147 withdraws Texas from the Interstate Mining Compact, a multi-state agreement governing mining regulation and resource management. The bill directs the governor to notify other member states and publish the withdrawal in the Texas Register. One year after the notice, the Texas Mining Council and the office of the Interstate Mining Compact Commissioner for Texas will be abolished, and Chapter 132 of the Natural Resources Code will be repealed.
