SB1209
Assigned to Committee Authored by Bryan Hughes (R) View at Source
Caption: Relating to the uniform election date. Initially Referred to Senate State Affairs Committee, chaired by a Republican Last Referred to House Elections Committee, chaired by a Republican
SB 1209 standardizes election dates in Texas by eliminating the option for local elections to be held on dates other than the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November. The bill mandates that all general, special, and runoff elections be held on Tuesdays, replacing previous provisions that allowed for elections on Saturdays. It also requires political subdivisions that currently hold elections on other dates to move their general elections to the November uniform election date by December 31, 2025.
