Last Referred to House Higher Education Committee, chaired by a Republican
SB 1241 modifies the college entrance examination requirements for admission to certain public universities in Texas. It removes the previous statutory requirement that applicants must meet specific ACT or SAT score benchmarks and instead allows the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board to determine the required scores on a designated college entrance examination. The bill applies to students seeking admission beginning with the 2026 fall semester.
