Caption: Relating to the authority of a political subdivision to provide credits against impact fees to builders and developers for certain water conservation and reuse projects.
Initially Referred to Senate Water, Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee, chaired by a Republican
Last Referred to House Intergovernmental Affairs Committee, chaired by a Republican
SB 1253 allows political subdivisions to grant credits against water and wastewater impact fees to builders and developers who implement water conservation and reuse projects. The credit applies to projects that reduce per-unit water consumption, decrease wastewater treatment needs, minimize stormwater demands, or exceed existing water efficiency standards. Political subdivisions granting these credits must establish procedures to calculate, review, and approve them in a fair and consistent manner.
