Caption: Relating to the regulation of roadside vendors and solicitors in certain counties.
Initially Referred to House S/C on County & Regional Government Committee, chaired by a Republican
Last Referred to Senate Local Government Committee, chaired by a Republican
HB 2731 amends the Transportation Code to allow counties with populations over 500,000 to regulate roadside vendors, solicitors, and the sale of live animals on public highways, roads, and parking lots in unincorporated areas. It also lowers the population threshold for counties bordering Mexico to regulate these activities from 870,000 to 200,000 but removes previous limitations that restricted these regulations to roads with speed limits of 40 mph or higher and prohibited counties from banning livestock sales.
