SB 1263 establishes a pilot program for the safe disposal of prescription drugs, including controlled substances. The program increases the availability of drug collection receptacles at pharmacies and other locations, enabling the public to dispose of unused or expired prescription drugs safely. It transfers oversight from the Texas State Board of Pharmacy to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), which will manage pharmacy participation, program incentives, and disposal logistics.
