SB 1371 modifies the operation of certain metropolitan transit authorities. It allows metropolitan transit authorities in cities with populations under 320,000 to operate refueling facilities for compressed or liquefied natural gas that can be used by exempt vehicles in emergencies. It also changes the rules for establishing or altering fares, making single-ride base fare changes effective 60 days after board approval unless disapproved by the metropolitan planning organization. Additionally, it adjusts board member term limits, allowing certain service periods to be excluded from term calculations.
