Caption: Relating to the election of certain school districts to participate in the uniform group coverage program for active school employees.
Initially Referred to House Pensions, Investments & Financial Services Committee, chaired by a Republican
Last Referred to Senate Education K-16 Committee, chaired by a Republican
HB 3126 allows small school districts that opted out of the state's uniform group coverage program for school employees to rejoin before the standard five-year waiting period if they provide notice by December 31, 2025, and meet participation requirements. The bill also authorizes the imposition of a risk stabilization fee on newly rejoining districts and mandates continued participation until at least 2031. This provision is set to expire on September 1, 2031.
