Initially Referred to House Ways & Means Committee, chaired by a Republican
Last Referred to Senate Economic Development Committee, chaired by a Republican
HB 3179 grants the commissioners court of certain counties the authority to impose a hotel occupancy tax. The bill applies specifically to counties where the Llano River meets the James River. The tax will follow the standard procedures outlined in the Tax Code, but it will not apply to hotels located in municipalities that already have a hotel occupancy tax under Chapter 351. This bill provides a potential revenue-generating opportunity for counties in this specific geographical region.
