Initially Referred to House Licensing & Administrative Procedures Committee, chaired by a Republican
Last Referred to Senate Business & Commerce Committee, chaired by a Republican
HB 3214 modifies the eligibility requirements for obtaining a master plumber license in Texas. It reduces the required work experience for journeyman plumbers from four years to two years before they can apply for a master plumber license. Alternatively, a journeyman plumber may qualify with just one year of experience if they have successfully completed a training program approved by the U.S. Department of Labor Office of Apprenticeship or another nationally recognized apprentice training program accepted by the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners. The bill also directs the board to adopt rules to implement these changes and specifies that the new eligibility criteria will apply only to applications submitted on or after the bill's effective date.
