Caption: Relating to the authority of home-rule municipalities to regulate the occupancy of dwelling units.
Initially Referred to Senate Local Government Committee, chaired by a Republican
Last Referred to House Land & Resource Management Committee, chaired by a Republican
SB 1567 limits the authority of home-rule municipalities to regulate occupancy in residential dwellings. It prevents cities from restricting occupancy based on age, familial status, occupation, relationship status, or kinship. However, it allows municipalities to impose occupancy limits based on health and safety codes and does not override private property agreements or homeowners' association rules.
