Caption: Relating to the creation of the Texas Commission on Marriage and Family.
Initially Referred to House S/C on Family & Fiduciary Relationships Committee, chaired by a Democrat
Last Referred to Senate Health & Human Services Committee, chaired by a Republican
HB 3284 establishes the Texas Commission on Marriage and Family to study and develop policies that promote strong marriages and stable families. The commission will evaluate state laws and policies that may discourage marriage and family formation and recommend changes to support family stability. The commission will consist of seven appointed members with expertise in family counseling, child development, nonprofit leadership, academic research on marriage, and clergy. The commission is required to submit a report with its findings and recommendations by November 1, 2026, and will be dissolved by December 31, 2026.
