Caption: Relating to the use of automated traffic control systems by local authorities and law enforcement agencies.
Initially Referred to House Transportation Committee, chaired by a Republican
HB 3309 permits local governments and law enforcement agencies to use automated traffic enforcement systems in construction and maintenance work zones. While the bill continues the general ban on red-light cameras and automated traffic control systems, it creates an exception for work zones where automated cameras can monitor and enforce traffic laws. The bill requires clear signage indicating the presence of such systems and mandates that citations can only be issued by an officer at the time of violation.
