Initially Referred to House S/C on County & Regional Government Committee, chaired by a Republican
Last Referred to Senate Local Government Committee, chaired by a Republican
HB 3335 authorizes county commissioners courts to donate surplus or salvage property to civic or charitable organizations without requiring a competitive bidding process. The donation must serve a public purpose, and the county must retain sufficient control over the property to ensure the purpose is achieved. Additionally, the receiving organization must provide adequate consideration, such as covering transportation or disposal expenses. This bill expands the authority of counties to dispose of property in a way that benefits the community.
