HB 3371 authorizes the Texas governor to seek reimbursement from the federal government for state expenses related to securing the southern border. The bill allows the governor to submit reimbursement applications to Congress and, if the funds are not received within a reasonable time, directs the Texas Attorney General to take legal action against the federal government to recover the requested amount. It specifies initial reimbursement requests of $4.72 billion for the 2023 fiscal biennium and $6.54 billion for the 2025 fiscal biennium.
