Initially Referred to House Criminal Jurisprudence Committee, chaired by a Republican
HB 3477 allows for the expunction of criminal contempt records under certain conditions. Specifically, it grants individuals found in criminal contempt the right to expunge all records related to the contempt after 40 years. The bill amends the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure to clarify that expunction procedures for contempt cases will follow the same process as arrest record expunctions.
