Last Referred to Senate Finance Committee, chaired by a Republican
HB 3487 creates a sales and use tax reduction for restaurants participating in oyster shell recycling programs. Food service establishments that collect and donate oyster shells to an approved recycling program can deduct $2 for every 50 pounds of oyster shells recycled from their state sales tax liability. The Texas Comptroller, in consultation with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, will oversee the certification of recycling programs.
