Caption: Relating to certain structures located near a National Wildlife Refuge.
Initially Referred to House Culture, Recreation & Tourism Committee, chaired by a Republican
Last Referred to Senate Natural Resources Committee, chaired by a Republican
HB 3556 imposes restrictions on constructing structures taller than 500 feet near national wildlife refuges in certain Texas counties. Before beginning construction, developers must notify the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department at least 90 days in advance. The department may evaluate the structure's impact on wildlife and seek injunctive relief if it determines the structure could cause material harm.
