Texas Policy Research Priority #1: TPR Vote Recommendation OPPOSED

SB 1789 enhances electric service reliability by setting stricter performance standards for electric utilities. It prohibits utilities from receiving a return on equity for infrastructure repairs if regulators determine the damage was reasonably foreseeable. The bill also strengthens enforcement measures for utilities with excessive service interruptions and requires the Public Utility Commission to adopt structural integrity standards for transmission and distribution poles.
