HB 3750 allows the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) to reimburse present and former employees for legal expenses incurred in certain situations. If an employee is criminally prosecuted for actions taken within the scope of their employment related to child or elder protection and is found not guilty or has charges dismissed, the department may indemnify them for attorney's fees up to $10,000. Additionally, current DFPS employees who seek protective or restraining orders due to their work may be reimbursed for legal fees up to $5,000.
