Caption: Relating to the penalty for noncompliance with certain audit requirements by a municipality.
Initially Referred to Senate Local Government Committee, chaired by a Republican
Last Referred to House Intergovernmental Affairs Committee, chaired by a Republican
SB 1851 penalizes municipalities that fail to comply with annual financial audit requirements by restricting their ability to adopt an ad valorem tax rate above the no-new-revenue tax rate until compliance is achieved. The Texas Attorney General is authorized to enforce this restriction.
