Texas Policy Research Priority #1: TPR Vote Recommendation OPPOSED

SB 1924 amends school discipline laws by reinstating the ability of law enforcement officers to issue citations for school-related offenses. The bill removes previous restrictions that barred officers from citing students and allows immediate criminal complaints for offenses that threaten teacher safety or result in physical harm to a teacher. It also mandates that students who fail graduated discipline sanctions be referred to criminal courts.
