Caption: Relating to the creation of a family violence criminal homicide prevention task force.
Initially Referred to Senate Criminal Justice Committee, chaired by a Republican
Last Referred to House Homeland Security, Public Safety & Veterans' Affairs Committee, chaired by a Republican
SB 1946 establishes the Family Violence Criminal Homicide Prevention Task Force, which will study risk factors for domestic violence homicides, analyze data on prosecutions and investigations, and make policy recommendations. The governor's office will oversee the task force, which will include family violence experts, law enforcement, prosecutors, and survivor advocates. A final report is due by December 1, 2026, and the task force sunsets on January 1, 2028.
