Caption: Relating to the authority of a political subdivision to regulate fire prevention standards for certain agricultural facilities.
Initially Referred to Senate Water, Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee, chaired by a Republican
Last Referred to House Land & Resource Management Committee, chaired by a Republican
SB 1948 prohibits local governments from requiring fire protection sprinkler systems in certain agricultural facilities. The bill defines agricultural pole barns, nonresidential farm buildings, cotton gins, livestock markets, and commercial feed mills as exempt from local fire code mandates for sprinkler systems. It ensures that local fire safety regulations do not impose additional costs or restrictions on agricultural operations.
